support@screenlytics.appHow to enable Usage Access
Why this permission is needed
Android requires explicit permission before any app can read usage events. This protects your privacy — you control exactly which apps can see your patterns.
Open Android Settings
Swipe down from the top and tap the gear icon, or find Settings in your app drawer.
Go to Apps or Application Manager
Look for "Apps", "Applications", or "App Management" — varies by device.
Find Screenlytics
Scroll or use the search icon at the top to find Screenlytics quickly.
Tap Permissions → Usage Access
If not there, try: Settings → Digital Wellbeing → Usage Access, or Settings → Privacy → Special App Access.
Enable the toggle for Screenlytics
Tap the toggle to turn it ON. Android may show a confirmation dialog — tap Allow.
Return to Screenlytics
Go back to the app. Your dashboard should populate within a few seconds.
Different Android versions: The exact path varies by device. Search for “Usage Access” in the Android Settings search bar if you can't find it.
Troubleshooting
The app shows no data or 0 hours screen time
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Screenlytics
- Tap Permissions and verify Usage Access is enabled
- If not listed, go to Settings → Digital Wellbeing → Usage Access (path varies by device)
- Enable the toggle next to Screenlytics
- Return to the app and pull down to refresh
- Data may take up to 30 seconds to populate for the first time
Some apps are missing from the breakdown
- This is normal for some system apps Android hides from usage stats
- Very briefly-used apps (under 1 second) may be excluded
- Ensure the app was not installed after your last phone restart
Screen time numbers seem inaccurate
- Android's UsageStatsManager is accurate to the minute but may not capture sub-second interactions
- Some manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei) customize Android in ways that affect accuracy
- Try restarting your device and re-opening Screenlytics
- Contact us with your device model and Android version if the issue persists
The app crashes or won't open
- Go to Settings → Apps → Screenlytics → Storage → Clear Cache
- Force stop the app and reopen it
- If the issue persists, try clearing data (this resets your local history)
- As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall from the Play Store
- Contact us with crash details so we can fix it
Uninstall & Data Deletion
Clear all data (keep app installed)
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Screenlytics
- Tap “Storage”
- Tap “Clear Data” (not just Clear Cache)
- Confirm — all usage history stored by Screenlytics will be permanently deleted
Completely remove Screenlytics
- Long-press the Screenlytics icon on your home screen or app drawer
- Tap “Uninstall” or drag to the Uninstall area
- Confirm uninstall
Complete removal guaranteed: Android automatically deletes all of Screenlytics' local storage when uninstalled. Since we store nothing in the cloud, uninstalling is a complete and permanent removal of all data.
